Location, Location, Location,
Property and Real Estate Abroad
Everyone knows your choice of location is very important, not only in terms of retaining your property value, but equally important in terms of putting you and your family close to all the amenities you are going to need to enhance your quality of life during your stay in an area of natural beauty

Sao Bras de Alportel
is a very popular choice for newcomers to the Algarve. One of the main reasons people quote for choosing to move here is the very friendly and helpful staff at  the " Camara " and Finances Departments ( Town Hall to you and me ) Bureaucracy can be difficult, to say the least, in some parts of the Algarve, but not here. Here you will find staff in all departments are keen to help, and even offer suggestions on how to make things easier. You are unlikely to need the airport every week, but no doubt you will be getting visitors, and you can pick them up easily via good roads in about 20 minutes drive. Your Property Abroad in an Area of natural beauty

The location is in a scenic setting 2 km outside Sao Bras de Alportel near the village of Bico Alto.  The entire area is one of great natural beauty amid rolling hills with greenery all around and tree spotted slopes. Much of the valley bottom is traditional agriculture with olive, almond, and fig trees, in abundance. This area of the algarve is becoming increasingly popular due to the very helpful local authority (Camara- Fregusia) and the increasing property values.

From Bico Alto, the short drive along the gently winding road to Sao Bras, gives access to the major new highway infrastructure which enables speedy access to all parts of the Algarve and it's many delights.

algarmap003        Bico Alto is here in the top corner of the map just north east of Sao Bras de Alportel.

Loule, in the centre of the map is an old market town with a must visit, newly restored indoor market, excellent shopping along the central avenida, and, in the Gallerias Dona Leonor.

Faro airport is at the bottom of the map and has a direct road link to Sao Bras, about 25 minutes drive time.

The bottom left coastal area is where you will find all the golf courses at Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo, and Vilamoura. There is a large Marina at Vilamoura and a small fishing harbour at Quarteira.

Olhao is a bustling and expanding fishing town with an extensive sea front lined with shops and restaurants, and picturesque tidal inlets with moored boats. Much of the waterfront and nearby area is under redevelopment.

Algarve Weather.

The weather in Faro and along the whole Algarve in general provides fantastic and healthy year round temperatures.

It is estimated that there is in the region of 300 sunny days every year on the Algarve. The weather and the short journey times from the UK are what have made Faro and the Algarve a year long holiday and retirement destination of choice.

The warm, sunny winter days are a massive draw for many golfers and with the sheer volume of flights to Faro means it is an easy long weekend destination.  Of course the weather in Faro changes throughout the year but below is a brief overview of the yearly temperatures in Faro.

November / December / January / February : This is winter time in the Algarve. The nights draw in early and you can get some cold, windy days. As a rule however, there are many sunny days and providing you keep out of the wind it is good weather for eating outdoor lunches. Bring coats just in case.

March / April / October : Spring and autumn are popular months with the golfers, the sea is probably a little too cold to swim in as are unheated swimming pools. Evenings are generally mild but you should bring jumpers and jackets for the occasional chilly night.

May / June / September : In my opinion these months give the best Algarve weather conditions. Warm and hot days, and, long warm evenings. The beaches and restaurants are busy but not unbearably so. Almost all beaches have safe swimming, and difficult areas are flagged.

July & August : Hot, Hot and Hot. Dress casual and to keep cool. Great alfresco eating at many restaurants. Beautiful seafront promenades for romantic walks.  You must have your sun hat and sunscreen lotion.

Depending on the time of year you are visiting the Algarve it is worth considering hiring a car with air conditioning.
