Fonte de Benemola ¶ Natural area with an array of flora and fauna. Two protected colonies of bats are found in the park. At Praca da Republica, 8100-951 Loule.
Parque Mineiro Cova dos Mouros ¶ Pre-historic mining park organising gold searches, archeological excavation simulations and children's donkey rides. For groups of over 15 people or individuals joining groups with a reservation. At Reserva da Foupana Vaqueiros, Alcoutim.
Parque Natural da Ria Formosa ¶ Vast natural park that covers 60km of coastline from Manta Rota to Vale do Lobo. Various nature trails for walkers and Portuguese Water dog kennels within the park. Centro de Educacao Ambiental de Marim Quelfes, 8700 Olhao.
Rocha da Pena ¶ A 600 hectare protected area located between Benafirm and Salir. There are many animals indigenous to the park including the buzzard, wild rabbits, foxes and wild boar. Area is suitable for walks and rock climbing. Equipment at Escola Primaria da Pena, 8
Sapal de Castro Marim Nature Reserve ¶ A 2,089 acre park with salt works, creeks and green areas. Nature reserve for numerous species of bird and plantlife. At Sapal de Venta Moinhos Apartado 7, 8950-138 Castro Marim.
In general, you will find that the Algarve, with its mild climate, reasonably priced restaurants, breathtaking scenery, friendly people and excellent golf courses, and other leisure facilities all combine to make it an excellent place to live.
